French 1: Monday May 7 Lesson Plan

DUE: p. 239, Ex. 31: For each verb, write two original sentences, one saying someone is doing the action (present tense), another saying that same person did the action yesterday (past tense). Use a different subject for each verb. Also include some phrase following the verb (direct object, prepositional phrase. In all, you will write nine pairs of sentences, eighteen sentences total.

{15 minutes} Oral Vocab Practice: "Qu'est-ce que tu voudrais pour ton anniversaire?" CAH gets question rolling, then students ask each other. Respond using vocab in 7.2 list!

  • Work in pairs or trios.
  • Prepare an ad for any kind of TV program (a series, soap opera, documentary, news program, whatever!).
  • Tell viewers what the show is about, why they must watch!
  • Include "clips" or "scenes" from the show.
  • Props and video are welcome but not required.
  • At least five sentences from each player are required! 
  • Use this chapter's vocab!
  • Present live in class during second half of period today!
{5 minutes} Grammar warm-up! Students practice conjugating reflexive verb on board in present, past, imperfect, and future!

{10 minutes} Autour du monde! Take students in pairs, give vocab word, see who can offer the translation  fastest. We'll go one round where I give the word in French and students must give the word in English, then a round where I give English, students give French.

  • Emphasize two parts: conjugate avoir, then add past participle ( in French is like -ed in English).
  • Emphasize pronunciation difference in first-person singluar between present and past.
  • Do Exs. 27, 28, 29, and, as time allows, 30 together in class.

French 2: Oral Final Exam

The French 2 Oral Final Exam will consist of two parts.

Part 1, CAH will ask you as many questions from the following list as possible. You must answer each question with at least one complete sentence. You should also be prepared to answer any follow-up questions that CAH may logically construct from your responses to these questions.

  1. Où est-ce qu'on peut acheter...? (any grocery item is fair game!)
  2. Dis-moi quatre fruits.
  3. Dis-moi quatre légumes.
  4. Qu'est-ce que tu aimes étudier? Pourquoi?
  5. Qu'est-ce que tu aimes faire le week-end?
  6. Qu'est-ce que tu aimes faire en [un mois]?

CAH will administer the Oral Final Exam in ten-minute one-on-one interviews with each student May 14–May 18 and May 21–22. Oral Final Exams will take place before school, during lunch, during Spartan Time, after school, and during other times when CAH is available. Students are responsible for signing up for their own exam appointment times on the master schedule in CAH's classroom and for remembering to show up at their chosen times.
