French 2: Chapter 5 Oral Quiz
Chapter 5 Oral Quiz! Wednesday, February 13!
On Wednesday, February 13, I will ask you one of these two questions:
I will then give you four commands based on the verbs in Chapter 5. You will respond not by speaking but by acting out the action commanded. Possible commands:
You then ask me two questions—not ça va or comment tu t'appelles or anything else to which you already know the answer, but preferably questions related to Chapter 5 vocabulary. I will respond en français; you will prove you understand my response (probably by translating my statement back into English).
- Qu'est-ce que tu as fait hier soir? OR
- Qu'est-ce que tu as fait ce matin?

Les Devoirs: Write a brief (at least five sentences) history of your life (including your future death!) using at least ten terms from Vocab 4.2!
[40 minutes] Théâtre de vocabulaire!
- Highlight the vocab you use.
- Be prepared to read these stories aloud for others to listen and translate.
- Everyone to the board; each students does present, past, imperfect, future, and conditional of the "we" form of one of the verbs from Vocab List 5.2 (note the fine assortment of regular, -cer/-ger, verbs of motion, and reflexive verbs to make the past tense exciting!).
- Students read future life histories out loud.
- Fellow students ask questions about each story
[10 minutes] Vocab 4.2 Face-to-face drill!
- Students pair up to compose and perform skits combining their life-story vocab with the polite expressions on p. 149
- When presenting (scripts allowed!), students should say with great emphasis the words on this vocab list.
- Present this class period! For points!

French 1: Monday February 4 2013 Lesson Plan
DUE: Les Devoirs: Two things!
[30 minutes] Question Word Practice: qui, qu'est-ce que, est-ce qu, quand, comment, pourquoi, and où
- Write questions and your answers to p. 157 Ex. 13.
- Write a question for each of the above seven question forms that you could logically ask another student in class. Be ready to use those questions in oral practice next time!
- Randomly assign savoir, pouvoir, vouloir, voir, and devoir.
- Throw in faire to shake up brains!
- Students put conjugation up on board!
- CAH checks homework during this time
[30 minutes] Question Word Practice: qui, qu'est-ce que, est-ce qu, quand, comment, pourquoi, and où
- Students read p157 Ex13 aloud, check for right question words!
- Students read me their original questions, I offer answers.
- Then students pair up, ask each other their questions, offer answers; CAH/TA circulate, guide, correct.
- First CAH/TA ask, "Tu aimes..." plus one of the activities, one of the seasons, or one of them months. Students respond with, "Oui, j'aime... mais je préfère..." and another activity/season/month... or "Non, je n'aime pas.... Je préfère...."
- Then face-to-face drill of all Vocab 5.1 and the -oir verbs!
- Quiz qill include all activities, seasons, months, and other terms on pp. 150–153!
- Quiz will include the five -oir verbs!
- Quiz will also include the seven question words (p. 156)
French 3: Friday February 1 2013 Lesson Plan
DUE: Vocab 4.2 writing (each word/phrase four times!)
[25 minutes] Vocabulary Practice!

- First, quiz the words orally with Q&A.
- Next, do pp. 148–149 Exs. 23, 24, and 25 in pairs and out loud.
- Think vocab quiz not next time, but time after!
[15 minutes] Grammar Check! Verb Practice!
- Each student picks a verb, writes the ils/elles form of five tenses—present, past, imperfect, future, and conditional—on board!
[35 minutes] Reading/Translation Practice!
- Individually or in pairs, students work on translating this Le Monde article on a shooting in Marseilles!
- Compare translations in large group
[5 minutes] Lacey does presentation!
