French 2: Dec 2-5 Lesson Plan

DUE: Les Devoirs! Write eight possible questions and answers that you might hear in the oral interview grocery quiz you have next class period (Dec. 6-7)!

{15 minutes} Practice in pairs!
  • Students pair up, ask each other the questions they have written.
  • Student should rotate to practice with at least two different partners.
  • Remember: you can only use au supermarché once in your answers!
{45 minutes} More Q&A Listening and Speaking Drill!
  • Each student comes to the front of the room to play teacher.
  • Each student picks four students at random, asks each of them one of his/her questions; chosen students respond (yes, all in French!).
  • Each student, while playing teacher, should indicate whether the student has answered correctly and point out any pronunciation errors he/she perceives.
  • If in doubt, students should consult Google Translate audio! Have one student standing by with Google Translate open and with my desk speakers plugged into his/her laptop. Use that student's computer to check pronunciation when desired. Students entering French text into Google Translate for audio check should be sure to include accent marks on Google Translate, since accent marks will affect pronunciation!
{30 minutes} Les Devoirs:
  1. Handwrite three times all vocab words and phrases in Vocab List #1, p. 149, plus the four "Entre copains" phrases on p. 121. (Check pronunciation on Google Translate as you write!)
  2. Study for the Dec 6-7 Oral Interview Quiz!
  • CAH will ask you five questions about where one can buy certain groceries (Où est-ce qu'on peut acheter...?).
  • To get full credit, you need to respond in a complete sentence saying where one can buy such things (On peut acheter... à ...).
  • You can use le supermarché in no more than one response. The rest of your responses must use terms for specific shops.
  • CAH will ask you two questions about whether you like shopping, who in your family does the shopping, and/or what items you enjoy shopping for.
  • You must then ask CAH one grocery-related question. CAH will respond in second-year French. You will translate his response into English.
