French 1: Thu/Mon Sept. 27/Oct. 1 2012 Lesson Plan

DUE: Les Devoirs: Écrivez les mots du vocabulaire (pp. 40-42) quatre fois!

[15 minutes] Vocabulary Practice by Speed Dating! Students move around the room, conduct brief conversations. Each person asks the other, "Tu aimes ... ?" about some vocab term (noun or verb!). Each student responds with either "J'aime ..." or "Je n'aime pas ...." Go to as many different people as possible!

• CAH checks homework during this time.

[15 minutes] Add Homegrown Vocab! Eight words from student list:

1. la famille
2. la mère
3. le père 
4. la sœur
5. le frère
6. les amis/les amies
7. le chien
8. le chat

• CAH will include these words on the next vocab quiz, which will take place jeudi/vendredi, le 4/5 octobre!
• CAH asks students questions using the above eight words!

[15 minutes] Textbook Vocabulary Practice pp. 42-43

• Listening: Ex. 1
• Associations: Ex. 2
• Conversation: Ex. 4

[25 minutes] Grammar Practice: Definite Articles! (p. 44)

• Recall indefinite articles: un, une, des.
• Recall gender! (How can we forget?)
• Recall difference from definite articles: le, la, les.
• Recall elision/apostrophization! l'ordinateur, l'école, l'ami
• Practice with p. 44-45 Exs. 7, 8, and 9.

Les Devoirs:

1. p. 43 Ex. 5: write a response to Noémie!
2. p. 45 Ex. 10: write complete sentences!
